Grandmaster Ricardo Murgel

Learn From One of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu's Few 9th-Degree Grandmasters

Founder and head instructor Grandmaster Ricardo Murgel brings decades of martial arts experience to every Union Team BJJ program. A Judo black belt since 1974, he trained and competed in Brazil, Europe, and Japan and has extensive experience in boxing, Muay Thai, Luta Livre, submission grappling, and mixed martial arts.

His track record spans nearly every level of training: UFC champions, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champions of different ages, professional fighters, SWAT personnel, FBI personnel, local police officers, beginners, and developing students.

That breadth of experience connects high-level competition, practical self-defense, professional fighting, law-enforcement training, and the development of students from their first class to championship performance.
