Nicholas Malone, Union Team BJJ Brown Belt and Young Warriors Instructor
Nicholas is one of our brown belts at Union Team BJJ and resident Young Warriors Coach. When Nick's not hiking in the mountains or spending time at the beach, you can catch him at Union Team BJJ working hard on his own jiu jitsu game as well as taking some time to help his teammates. Where are you from? Louisville Kentucky
What do you do for a living? I work for Publix supermarket as a butcher.. as well Union Team BJJ Young Warriors Coach.
What's your belt rank? Brown belt under Master Murgel
How did you discover BJJ?
My dad served in the United States Marines. He always encouraged us to learn some type of grappling martial arts. He told me all fights eventually go to the ground. He used to teach me and my siblings combat combatives in the backyard, everythign from boxing to Judo takedowns and submissions.
How long have you been training in BJJ? Around 7 years
What are your BJJ goals? I want to produce black belts and pass the art on to the new generation.
What's your favorite submission? Triangle from the back
Favorite Jiu Jitsu Practitioner? Master Murgel. I've learned so much from him.

What advice would you offer to someone wanting to get started with Jiu Jitsu? A quote from Lou Holtz: Show me someone who has done something worthwhile, and I'll show you someone who has overcome adversity.
What do you do when you're not training? I love to go hiking and explore nature.
